History

Serving Kingsville, Lee's Summit, & the Greater Kansas City Area

IN THE BEGINNING

County Line Auto Parts, one of America's largest privately owned salvage yards and auto parts suppliers today, traces its roots back to 1996 when Dennis Roberts, one of our founding owners, started working for his uncle, Randy, who initiated the business as a small-scale salvage yard operation at the time. In 2003, Krystyn Mitchell, Kent Roberts, and Dennis Roberts, all family members, purchased the business from their uncle Randy. Their primary focus at the time was to grow the business into a modern auto recycling facility that provided the community and the industry with another choice for purchasing used parts that was customer driven but also had a commitment to high quality standards and environmental preservation.

All three co-founders helped provide the footprint for what County Line Auto Parts is today!  While Dennis specialized in the acquisition and expansion of the business, Kent handled sales and operations.  Krystyn, our other co-founder, focused on building the company's internal infastructure, developing policies and procedures and growing relationships with other yards across the country.  She was also the first woman president of Quality Replacement Parts (QRP), a huge achievement in our industry.  After reshaping the business, we hired Joe Roederer and Don Morris, both of whom emerged as top salesmen in town and eventually became partners in the business, with Don retiring from County Line Auto Parts in 2013.

OVERCOMING ADVERSITY

Initially, County Line Auto Parts faced adversity due to its small size in the competitive Kansas City auto parts industry. Despite starting with limited funds, the business persevered through hard work and strategic growth. The year 2003 would mark a turning point for growth once the team took over.  Our team grew to 15 employees, a dismantling facility was introduced, and we began acquiring newer and higher-quality cars to help build the business.

In 2009, a major setback occurred that most customers at the time didn't know happened.  Just minutes before Super Bowl Sunday that year, a fire engulfed the entire back end of the main building, damaging countless parts and creating a major shift in the operation. Despite facing a record year in sales that year, the team rallied together to rebuild after the fire, overcoming the adversity with determination and hard work. For over 6 months, while insurance claims were being analyzed and evaluated and the rebuilding process initiated, the County Line team worked countless hours, many of which were outside in the elements.  Ultimately, the rebuilding process was completed but not after the experience taught valuable lessons about insurance and overcoming adversity as a family and team.  Later that year, County Line Auto Parts resumed full operation cabability.

COUNTY LINE AUTO PARTS TODAY

By 2010, the business had not only rebuilt but expanded its operations with additional offerings, buildings and warehouse space. Over the last 14 years, County Line Auto Parts has grown both in new staff members and our customer offerings, slowly becomming one of the most trusted names in auto part supply within the Kansas City area.

Importantly, the business has achieved this growth without compromising its commitment to the smaller customers and local shops that made us who we are today.  Without this customer loyalty, County Line Auto Parts would not be who we are today
